Flu Season in the Millennial Age

Posted on 19 January 2017 by Gavin Verreyne

gavin_flu_season_in_the_millennial_age.jpgThis flu season has been a tough one for everyone. Many people ended up out of the office and in bed for many weeks. Even after recovery, it takes quite a while to get back into pre-flu shape. As I was going through some absences it occurred to me that, just as the flu virus attacks the human body, there are worms and other viruses that attack our business systems.

Keeping your ERP Resolutions

Posted on 4 January 2017 by Cathie Hall

cathie_keeping_your_erp_resolutions.jpgWe all start the year with good intentions of what we will and won’t do, but by mid-January most of us have already broken our resolutions.  As a long distance runner I spend many hours running long distances, and many more training.  I train when it’s cold, dark, wet and windy.  I train when I am on holiday.  I train when I probably should be asleep.  I also need to think about what I need to do to support my training: strength work in the gym, my diet, getting enough sleep, not drinking too much.  The reward comes though when I enter an event and reach my goal.  Not only do I measure success in terms of achieving a specific goal – e.g. running from Edinburgh to Glasgow (which is the challenge for March 2017), it’s also about the positive benefits running has on all aspects of my life.

rob_bots_mean_business.jpgChances are if you’re living in the 21st century and own a phone or computer, you’ve already had a chat or two with a chatbot. Often so realistic, users may not realize they’re talking to a machine, albeit an intelligent one. These conversation-mimicking AI programs are fast transforming the way we interact with the internet.

A SYSPRO Year-End Checklist

Posted on 8 December 2016 by Tracey Gates

tracey_a_SYSPRO_year_end_checklist.jpgChristmas comes but once a year, and the same is true of a year-end. For many of us, both occasions present organizational challenges. On the home front, we agonise over what to buy and spend hours trying to keep the dog from eating the tinsel. At work, we rack up stress points as we close out the year, wondering what reports to generate in SYSPRO, what balance functions to run, which GL Integration programs to check, and whether we should deselect the ‘Close Application’ option when processing year-end only.
