SYSPRO Espresso is game-changing software, and companies around the world are drinking it up like macchiato shots at an Italian cafe. The majority of downloads worldwide have been for iOS and Android devices, with Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone coming in third and fourth.

Those that know me well, know my reputation for being “the lady with the laptop.”  There are numerous photographs of me with the laptop seemingly surgically attached: the middle of a field on Scout Camp, whilst washing clothes on the Serbian Scout Jamboree, even in my Wedding Dress.  When K3 Syspro took part in the UK National 3 Peaks Challenge, my laptop came too; if I go away for a weekend with the kids, the laptop is the first thing in the car.

As we all know (or should know), SYSPRO ticks more functionality boxes than a Swiss army knife and part of the reason for SYSPRO’s ongoing product success is that it focuses on getting this core functionality right - whilst exposing this same functionality via business objects to allow easy software integration to other systems. 

When a business implements SYSPRO, they often choose to implement other software tools available in the market too, with the aim of enhancing the solution and maximising the business’s return on its investment. 

Fifteen years ago, it would have been tough to believe a little device no bigger than your palm would have enough computer power to not only render high-definition videos, but also be able to secure sensitive data with the swipe of a finger and provide access to your corporate network.

Oh, and you would also be able to make phone calls with it.

Today smartphones and mobile devices have evolved so quickly that they are now little offices that you can access anytime, anywhere. In fact, mobility is an area I am personally very interested in because I believe it’s changing society rapidly and offers many business benefits today and into the future.

Unless you’ve been living on a desert island for the past 5 years, you shouldn’t have failed to notice that when Apple released the first generation iPad back in 2010 it sparked off a revolution in personal computing terms when it brought to the consumer device market an intuitive, simplistic and easy to use personal computing device. Apple succeeded because they were one of the first companies to respond to a new demand in the marketplace, a demand fuelled by the world’s technological advances…and generated by impatience.

One of my favourite films from the past is Minority Report, mainly because of the technology shown in these films, and not least because of the leading actor! It amazes me to think that Minority Report is already 11 years old. It seemed so far into the future at the time and yet today we are already seeing evidence of the technology used in Minority Report. Some of the technology and futuristic user interfaces have become realized and the way they have come into use is a good example of the term 'consumerization of technology'.Wikipedia describes Consumerization as:

The rapid consumerization of technology over the past few years has led enterprises, some kicking and screaming, to incorporate elements of it for their brand strategies and internal processes.

I found it interesting to note how two recent and completely unrelated events, both emphasized the growing impact of mobile devices in the world of computer technology. The first was a product survey that SYSPRO conducted amongst its customers across the globe. It produced an extensive number of individual responses to a wide range of questions; offering ample evidence of SYSPRO’s ability to understand and address the needs of its customers. Our intention was to listen to what our customers regarded as the key needs to be addressed in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions, to help equip them better for the future. We were also keen to get their honest comments on our existing products and services.
