With technology constantly evolving, there may be times when you feel that you just can’t keep up. It’s at these times that you have to keep an open mind and be open to new possibilities. The saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks cannot apply in this day and age.

Olympics Highlights the Back to Basics Approach

Posted on 15 September 2016 by Louise Thompson

louise_olympics_highlights_b2b.jpgThe recent Olympic opening ceremony was novel for the very fact that it honoured the past traditions of the 2000 year old Olympic Games without inserting any high tech themes into the ceremony. Witness the presence of oiled and “naked” wrestlers from ancient Greece representing the very beginning of the Games.

Busting 5 Inaccurate ERP Myths

Posted on 12 September 2016 by Joey Benadretti

Busting_5_Inaccurate_ERP_Myth.jpgOften when people find out what I do for a living, they ask me to explain why ERP is so beneficial for today’s manufacturer or distributor.  After addressing this question for so many years, I felt that it may be easier to answer it by addressing some of the common misconceptions that are often raised:

Fighting with Food

Posted on 6 September 2016 by Darren Edwards

darren_fighting_with_food.jpgThere are a lot of ERP software providers that claim they ‘specialize in food and beverage’, a claim which must warm the heart of any food manufacturing company shopping for a new ERP System.

Streamlining Your Company with ERP

Posted on 4 August 2016 by Alistair Brough

aistair_streamlining_your_company_with_erp.jpgStreamlining isn’t just for planes, trains and automobiles. It’s also a valuable concept in business. Is competition fierce? Profit margins tight? Can the difference between success and failure boil down to a few minutes of lead time? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those questions, it’s time to look for areas where you can minimize the drag on your business.

ERP: From Functionality to Value in a Single Bound

Posted on 20 July 2016 by Jeff Gilbert

jeff_erp_from_functionality_to_value.jpgIn this age of Industry-four-point-whatever, the stuff of interthings, customizable screens that can make coffee and excise bunions, massive data and so on, it can be fairly easy to forget that some ERP users may not want every bell and whistle in order for their solution to work optimally for their situation.

How ERP Meets the Challenge of Uncertainty

Posted on 12 July 2016 by Cathie Hall

cathie_challenge_of_uncertainty.jpgThere is no doubt that, globally, these are uncertain times.  From the UK’s surprise Brexit decision to the election in Australia and of course the Clinton vs. Trump campaign in the US.  Whatever side of politics you find yourself on, there is no doubt that politic uncertainty and economic uncertainty go hand in hand.  Macro-economic uncertainty then feeds down to company level and we get trading uncertainty.

The Evolution of SYSPRO’s UX

Posted on 5 July 2016 by Alistair Brough

alistair_evolution_of_syspro_ux.jpgThe evolution of the user experience (UX) is nothing short of remarkable. From Dieter Rams’ Blaupunkt designs in the 1960s, to the game-changing innovations of Apple’s iPhone in 2007 – the UX has expanded from individual design silos into the unified and much contemplated mission of entire organisations.

Why ERP Customization isn’t a Dirty Word

Posted on 15 June 2016 by Gavin Verreyne

gavin_why_erp_customization_dirty_word.jpgOver the years, I have heard many customers and prospective customers suggest that customization is a bad word. People of change, ERP vendors, sometimes customize the software to the nth degree and then struggle to deploy the latest and greatest of their existing platform.

Managing Human Capital with ERP

Posted on 8 June 2016 by Shaun Butler

shaun_ERPeople.jpgERP is often described as the backbone of a company, but in my opinion the spinal association is less than exact. Using an anatomical metaphor is great, but let’s go beyond quick assumptions and get it right. Perhaps it would be better to say that ERP is like the Central Nervous System (CNS), the all-important connections that run from your brain down the spinal cord. Like ERP, the CNS integrates all the body’s information, triggering, adjusting and coordinating everything our bodies do. This change of metaphor frees up the backbone, which I think is better used to describe the role and function of Human Capital – the most important driver for making an ERP solution useful.
