Over the years I’ve helped hundreds of clients, but somehow I’ve managed to make it through the decades without ever comparing the ERP selection process to the yearly duty of choosing a perfect Christmas tree. This year, however, with the joyous season once again upon us, I find myself wondering if the rules for one might loosely apply to the other. It could be the eggnog talking (in fact, it probably is), but in the depths of my imagination I see certain similarities.
No one ever said that managing your manufacturing operation was easy, in fact it can be one of the most time consuming, labor intensive and complex collection of business processes you can engage with.

You could argue that ERP is a not a sexy, new subject. It’s not a cool 3D printer, or a technologically advanced ‘hybrid car’. In fact, I could probably say that ERP is more the sedate station wagon than the sleek supercar. Does this mean ERP companies do not constantly innovate? Or continually seek out partnerships that enhance their product offering? Absolutely not. SYSPRO ERP may not be new, but it is a system built around listening to market trends and innovating accordingly.
