But in order to continue delivering innovative, relevant and market leading software, we ourselves need clear insight on market trends and conditions, as well as a well thought out plan for where our offering is heading.

Nowadays there is no shortage of articles that promote Cloud ERP systems and pontificate the impending demise of on premise ERP systems and ‘don’t trust your data to the Cloud’ worries. 

Everywhere you look technologists and software experts are banging on about Digital Transformation, the Internet of Things and Cloud this, that and the other.

Scalability is a bit of a buzz word these days. Some experts struggle to find a consistent definition, but it remains an important concept for understanding the growth-related characteristics of businesses, and of the systems, such as ERP, that support them.

To keep your company on the bleeding edge, I highly recommend taking advantage of SYSPRO port updates. These are similar to Windows updates – with every new SYSPRO release you can expect port updates more regularly and as the release reaches a level of stability, the port updates drop to an average of one update per month as the product matures with new features and enhancements. These updates can add a great deal of value to your ERP investment. If a portion of the code has been rewritten to increase speed, you’ll notice the difference.

I’m sometimes envious of Dr. John Dee, the 16^th-century mathematician, astronomer, geographer and trusted adviser to Queen Elizabeth I. Despite being a man of science, Dee practiced clairvoyance - ‘clear-seeing’ - through the use of crystal balls. I find this rather inspiring. Because if Dr. Dee can use a crystal ball to help support a queen, why shouldn’t I use one to help support my SYSPRO clients? Ah yes, I work with software, managing a support desk in the twenty first century!

In my last blog I mentioned my home make-over and my feelings about it that range from jubilant to wretched, depending on which day you catch me. This process has once again reinforced my belief that solid relationships are paramount to the success of any endeavor.  I learnt that one of the most important considerations when choosing a contractor is their clear understanding of your vision and your required outcome. The ‘personal touch’ should never be underestimated. 

Renovations can be exhausting and frustrating but oddly exhilarating at the same time. During my recent home makeover, as I bounced between building suppliers, sanitary ware outlets and roof truss manufacturers, I got to thinking about service levels that stand out. It struck me that the difficult decisions, inconveniences and stresses of any project can be minimized by excellent service.

The Tour de France is underway and I, for one, could not be happier. While some women may watch it for the men in tight pants, I watch primarily for the race’s backdrop. The view from the top reveals spectacular scenery and the hidden gems that riders traverse. I am so enthralled with these places that following the tour is on my bucket list.
